How to clean your fountain pen

Sometimes our fountain pen stops writing or it doesn't write as well as before. There are several reasons that can cause this:

• If you forgot to put your cap back on or you did not close it properly. The ink will then dry on the nib.
• If it has been stored incorrectly. It is often advisable to leave it flat and not vertically, since this keeps the ink on the tip and in the feed , the toothed part and usually black.
• Dust or other particles have accumulated on the tip.

It is therefore important to clean it regularly (at least once a month).

The pen does not write, but it still has ink in its cartridge or reservoir

1. You can simply dip the tip in a glass of cold water and wipe it gently with a paper towel. The pen should rewrite afterwards

You want to change ink color and you use cartridges

1. Unscrew the tip section and discard its cartridge
2. Hold the tip under cold tap water (low flow) for a few seconds
3. Gently wipe the tip with a paper towel
4. If there is ink on the paper towel, you can soak the tip in a glass of cold water. Change the water often, until it runs clear

You want to change ink color and you use a pump

2. Hold the tip under cold tap water (low flow) for a few seconds

4. Pump cold water through your pump until there is no more ink in it
