Have you just discovered the world of fountain pens and you don't know which one to choose?
We highly recommend the Platinum Preppy !
Since its inception in 2007, the Platinum Preppy has been among the most popular fountain pens on the market thanks to its very affordable price.
Its clear resin body lets you see the ink inside and its colorful accents make it super charming. Its stainless steel nib is abrasion resistant and provides a smooth and effortless writing experience.
Its cap has a patented mechanism that prevents the ink from drying out when the pen is closed, even after a year without using it.
It is the perfect pen for beginners or for people who do not write frequently with the same pen.

  • Dimensions: 5.5'' with the cap closed and 6'' with the cap resting on the end of the body
  • Weight: 10g (without cartridge or tank)
  • Come with an ink cartridge
  • Complementary product we suggest: A removable and reusable reservoir that allows the use of ink bottles instead of single-use cartridges. You will find it here (gold) or here (silver) .
  • To note: Japanese nibs tend to be finer than Western nibs. If you are used to writing, for example, with a fine nib, we recommend that you select a medium Japanese nib.
  • Platinum fountain pens are only compatible with Platinum ink cartridges

Platinum Pen Co., Ltd was founded in 1919, by Shunichi Nakata. This Japanese company quickly became a pioneer in the writing instrument industry.

One of his most important creations was the Platinum Honest 60. It was one of the first fountain pens in the world to use ink cartridges. In 1958, mountaineers even traveled to the Himalayan mountains to test the Honest 60 and proved that the ink from the cartridge did not leak, despite the low atmospheric pressure (if you often travel by plane with your pens and cartridges, you know that this is not an easy task!).

Today, Platinum Pen Co., Ltd is recognized as one of the best pen companies in the market. Its great reputation can be explained, in part, by the fact that it has remained a family business; even with 100 years of existence, it is still run by the Nakata family. She has therefore been able to maintain her original vision and her passion for the manufacture of pens.
